Visits are only for patients who are truly housebound due to their medical condition. This applies to very few patients. Not having transport or someone to bring you in to the surgery is not a reason for a doctor to visit.
If you feel you need a home visit, or you are a relative or carer calling on behalf of a housebound patient, please call the surgery before 10.30 am. Please provide as much detail as possible to the receptionist, together with a phone number (or numbers) on which you can be contacted. Your request for a visit will be assessed by a GP, who will call you back on the contact number you leave. If the GP cannot get through to you to discuss your need, then no visit will take place.
If a request is made later in the day, please be aware that the doctors are likely to be in afternoon surgery. If you believe that the request for a visit cannot wait until the following day, a GP will phone back when possible during the afternoon and may be able to visit later.
Please remember that many patients can be seen at the Surgery in the time that it takes to make one home visit. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients at the Surgery.
